Welcome: A little about me and this blog

Hi All! My name's Kara... Welcome to my new blog If I Were A Bride... Tips, Advice and Adventures of a Wheeling Wedding Consultant.

As I said, my name's Kara. I'm a thirty something young women who lives with Spina Bifida, a neural tube defect that occurs 15 days AFTER  conception. I wasn't given a good diagnosis. My parents were told I only had two weeks to live. If I lived longer I'd only be a vegetable unable to walk, talk, play, go to school or anything else. Long story short The Doctors Were Wrong. I exceeded expectations doing most if not all we were told I wouldn't. I grew up going to public schools participating in activities such as Children's chorus at church, Youth Group, in high school I was in Marching Band, Student Council, French Club and many more. In 2001 I was named Ms. Wheelchair Ohio. That year I traveled Ohio speaking to groups about my story and platform of promoting adoption. In May of 2015, I was named Ms. Wheelchair Eastern USA. In my new role I can travel to Eastern Ohio/USA sharing my story and platform.

Throughout all these years, I've loved weddings. I've had the pleasure of being a bridesmaid in many weddings of friends and family. It was lots of fun to participate in all the parties, do what I thought was play dress up wearing my bridesmaid dress and share in a very important event in a couple's life. I also enjoyed doing the things involved with preparing for the wedding such as helping with invitations, preparing favors, setting tables, some decorating and so on. This prompted me to choose wedding consulting as a career after I resigned from my 18year long job as a receptionist. In 2014 I became a certified wedding consultant. I'm slowly getting going with it and having fun. I plan to work with all brides but will specialize in assisting brides who live with disabilities. With this blog, I'll share some of my day to day life, in addition to advice and tips on planning, suggestions on venues, vendors and other wedding necessities and my adventures as I go through my new journey as a wedding consultant.  Please feel free to leave comments, Please Be Nice, and Ask Questions.
